Terms of Use

These terms govern your use of JustAte, including the mobile app, website, AI features, and JustAte Pro subscriptions.

1. Agreement

By using JustAte, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

Agreeing to these Terms, downloading JustAte, or buying a subscription does not give JustAte permission to share data with OpenAI. Cloud AI has a separate, optional in-app permission that you can decline or later turn off.

If you download JustAte through the Apple App Store, your use is also subject to Apple's standard Terms of Use (EULA) and App Store rules. If you download through Google Play, your use is also subject to Google Play rules.

2. The service

JustAte is currently for adults aged 18 and over. It helps you log food, estimate nutrition, review meals, track progress, and use optional AI-assisted features. The service may use local estimators, Cloud AI, and on-device features depending on your device, permissions, network access, and subscription state.

We may change, improve, pause, or remove features as the product evolves. We aim to keep the service reliable, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation.

3. JustAte Pro subscriptions

JustAte Pro provides only the premium features listed in the current in-app offer. Feature availability may depend on device, network, permission, and service status.

Pro recipe import supports selected saved HTML or JSON-LD files; photo reading requires a compatible iPhone and app version. It does not fetch recipes from a URL. Reusable weekly plans save private copies of your planned meals for another week. Importing a recipe does not give you permission to publish someone else's material. Community access remains free where available.

  • The current price, billing period, offer eligibility, and renewal terms are supplied by the Apple App Store or Google Play and shown before purchase.
  • If the store offers you a free trial, it converts to the displayed paid subscription unless you cancel within the store's deadline. Trial eligibility and confirmation are controlled by the store.
  • Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period, subject to the app store's rules.
  • You can manage or cancel subscriptions through the app store account used to purchase.
  • Refunds are handled by the store where you purchased unless applicable law requires otherwise.

4. Nutrition and health disclaimer

JustAte provides informational nutrition estimates. It is not medical advice, dietetic advice, diagnosis, treatment, or a substitute for a qualified health professional. Estimates can be wrong because of portion size, ingredients, recipes, image quality, AI limitations, database variation, or user input.

You are responsible for reviewing entries before relying on them. If you have a medical condition, allergies, disordered eating history, pregnancy, medication needs, or specific nutrition requirements, consult a qualified professional before using nutrition targets or suggestions.

5. Your account and content

You are responsible for keeping your account secure and for the accuracy of information you enter. You retain ownership of your meal logs, photos, text, corrections, and other content you provide, but you grant JustAte permission to process it to provide the service. This service permission is separate from the optional OpenAI data sharing choice described in the Privacy Policy.

Optional JustAte Together circles

Together is for adults aged 18 and over. Choose an alias you are comfortable showing to circle members and invite only people you intend to include. Anyone who receives a valid invitation can use it until it expires or is revoked. Share only content you are entitled to share. Check-ins are personal statements, not independently verified health results; encouragement and recipes are not professional health advice.

Do not impersonate, harass, threaten, spam, disclose someone else's private information, or promote unsafe eating or exercise behaviour. You can retract check-ins, leave, mute activity, block a member or save a report. Reports are not an emergency service. Contact support@justatemate.com for support. Recipients may retain recipe files shared outside the app; a completed share sheet does not confirm delivery or import.

Together uses automated alias checks. If your chosen name is rejected by mistake, contact support@justatemate.com. A rejection does not mean a person reviewed your name.

Reports are queued privately; saving a report does not confirm human review or automatically suspend anyone. An administrator can clear an alias, remove a check-in or member, close a circle, or suspend and restore only Together access. Moderation does not access your diary or health data; restoring access does not recreate removed Together content.

Public recipe community rules

Where community recipes are available, publishing is optional. Submit only recipes and material you own or have permission to publish. Keep required creator credit when saving, adapting or sharing a recipe.

  • Your public name and handle are separate from your account details and fixed after setup. Do not impersonate others, harass, threaten, spam, disclose private information or publish harmful instructions or unsafe eating advice
  • You retain your rights in your original content. By choosing to publish, you permit JustAte to store, review and display that submission, and other people to save a separate attributed copy for their own cooking. Publishing does not grant ownership of someone else’s work or remove its licence conditions
  • New submissions and revisions require moderation before discovery. Staff can approve, reject or withdraw content. Withdrawing hides your publication; it cannot recall saved or exported copies held by others
  • Where available, submitting a public photo, cooked note or named collection requires separate review, confirmation that you have the necessary rights, and agreement to these rules. Do not include another person’s private information. Staff moderation is required before public display
  • Cooked notes and weekly cook-along participation are voluntary statements by their authors, not verified cooking, health or food-safety results. Creator meal labels and local discovery suggestions are not allergy or dietary-safety assurances. Collections retain source creator credit and only show recipes currently available to the viewer
  • You can withdraw your photo, cooked note or collection and report visible submissions. Withdrawing or blocking affects subsequent access, but cannot recall copies already retained by other people
  • Community J-forks are one editable or removable 1–5 vote per account on a recipe version. You cannot rate your own publication. Community ratings are opinions, not verified nutrition, food-safety or health claims; private cookbook ratings stay private
  • Use the recipe’s Report action for spam, unsafe content, copyright or other concerns, and Block creator to hide their content and interactions. Reports are queued privately; submission does not confirm human review. Contact support@justatemate.com for support or rights requests. Reports are not an emergency service

6. Acceptable use

You must not:

  • Use JustAte for unlawful, harmful, abusive, or deceptive purposes.
  • Upload content that infringes rights, invades privacy, or contains illegal material.
  • Reverse engineer, scrape, overload, disrupt, or bypass security or metering controls.
  • Use AI outputs as professional medical, legal, financial, or emergency advice.

7. Intellectual property

JustAte, its brand, designs, software, and content are owned by us or our licensors. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, or create derivative works from the service except as allowed by law or with our permission.

Nearby results include Google Maps Platform features and content. Your use of those features and content is subject to the current Google Maps End User Additional Terms of Service. JustAte's use of the platform is also subject to the Google Maps Platform Terms. Google processing is described in the Google Privacy Policy. Barcode matches may use editable Open Food Facts community data, which can be incomplete or inaccurate. Its database is available under the Open Database License, individual database contents under the Database Contents License, and identified product images under CC BY-SA 3.0.

Reference-data clarification added 5 September 2026.

Food reference datasets are separately licensed. The restrictions in these Terms on copying, modification, redistribution, reverse engineering or scraping do not restrict rights granted by those data licences. The Australian Food Composition Database derivative is supplied under the FSANZ Data User Licence Agreement; UK CoFID and Canadian Nutrient File data retain their respective open government licences. Credits, notices, licence links and exports of the bundled reference data are available in the app under Nutrition Sources. No subscription is required to access the reference data. An unrestricted alternate copy is available on the public food reference downloads page without an account or app installation.

8. Termination

You may stop using JustAte at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you breach these Terms, misuse the service, create risk for other users, or where required by law or platform rules.

9. Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, JustAte is provided "as is" and "as available." We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for losses arising from inaccurate estimates, user decisions, service interruptions, or third-party services.

Nothing in these Terms excludes, restricts, or modifies rights you may have under consumer laws that cannot be excluded.

10. Changes

We may update these Terms from time to time. The latest version will be posted on this page. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated Terms.
